Canon Pixma MP470 is an all in one printer with totally changed overall look and feel. The edgy models of the earlier Pixma MP400 series have been done away with as the shape and curves of Pixma MP470 make it look a lot modern inkjet printer offered by Canon. Canon Pixma MP470 with all its appearance upgrade still fairly falls into the average entry level inkjet printer category. Canon Pixma MP470 uses the same two Canon MP470 ink cartridges that were used in earlier models of this series.
Canon Pixma MP470 can copy, scan and print for you. There are two options given to you for paper input in a Pixma MP470. There are two memory card slots in a Pixma MP470. You can insert common in use memory card types in your Pixma MP470. There is an additional option of buying an adapter for supporting additional types of memory cards not included with the printer itself. There is a USB port given with which you can connect a camera that is supporting the PictBridge feature for printing directly from your digital camera. Pixma MP470 offers a very user friendly scanner. When you choose scan a document with your Canon MP470, it gives you the option of scanning it to your PC, attaching the scanned file to an email or scanning it for a program. You can also convert your scan into editable text with the OCR (optical character recognition) software available with the printer or you can opt to save it as a PDF file. The two Canon MP470 ink cartridges used are one black color ink cartridge while the other is a tri color cartridge. This is not the typical type of Canon ink cartridges used by many of the Canon inkjet printers. In many other inkjet printers Canon used the individual ink cartridges which is called the ink tank system. There is hardly any difference between the quality of printing offered by these Canon Pixma MP470 ink cartridges and the older type of Canon ink cartridges but the real difference is of cost. This cartridge system is more expensive because when one of the colors in the tri color cartridge is consumed, the whole cartridge needs replacement that can be a real headache for the printer user to replace as well. Canon Pixma MP470 is a good affordable inkjet printer with the only lacking of individually replaceable ink cartridges for each color, a could be consideration for the more operating costs conscious inkjet printer users.
